How to Find Your First 3 Paying Clients

by Nick Thacker on January 21, 2010

Ramit Sethi, author of the blog I Will Teach You To Be Rich, writes in a fantastically annoying, yet sincere, way. His posts usually make you think, most make you act, and all give you advice that actually means something.

In a blogosphere full of crap like my blog that just link to other posts blogs that don’t give you anything but lofty, idealistic verbiage like “work hard and write great content!” it’s no wonder there aren’t as many “successful” blogs and businesses compared to the ones that stink.

Anyway, here’s the great post and an excerpt from it:

Example that made me angry: Last night, someone said they were going to start a wedding-montage photo business. What should they do? They appeared to be stuck. Answer: Go talk to a few wedding photographers and ask them if this is a good idea. Would their customers buy it? Are there holes in the market that are not being served? What about event planners? Florists? You could do this in 1-2 weeks and save 1 year of your life.”
